POSITION: Victory Choir Student Conductor
AVAILABILITY: 08-05-2015

QUALIFICATIONS: The Victory Choir student conductor will lead rehearsals and direct the choir in performances. This will involve providing musical guidance, instilling structure, and coordinating with JamesCare for Life and the choir accompanist to manage logistics of choir performances as applicable. This will also involve ensuring that participants enjoy a supportive environment, featuring a recognizable focus on support, togetherness, and camaraderie. Minimum Qualifications Needed (skills, experience, characteristics): · Undergraduate music degree.· Prior experience in choral leadership.· Prior experience teaching music required.· Functional accompaniment skills required.· Working knowledge of a variety of musical styles and genres.· Ability to communicate and explain musical concepts and vocal techniques using plain language as needed.· Ability to work patiently with choir participants who have varied levels of musical experience, diverse personalities, and wide-ranging cultural backgrounds.· Strong interpersonal skills.· Comfort engaging with cancer survivors.· Prior knowledge and/or experience related to appropriate use of music in healthcare contexts desirable.· Prior knowledge and/or experience related to voice health/development of healthy singing habits desirable.· Prior knowledge and/or experience related to adaptive approaches to vocal technique desirable.

SALARY: Negotiable
