Welcome!

Welcome to the website of the Ohio Choral Directors Association!

OCDA is a state affiliate of the American Choral Directors Association.  Our purpose is to promote excellence in choral music, and to encourage choral activities that provide artistic, cultural, and spiritual experiences.

OCDA regularly works toward accomplishing our mission in a variety of ways.  The OCDA Summer Conference, held each summer at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, is our largest combined endeavor.  World-renowned choral educators, composers, voice experts, and conductors headline each conference.  Recent clinicians have included Jerry Blackstone, Eric Whitacre, Ann Howard Jones, Dale Warland, Andre Thomas, and Emily Ellsworth, to name a few.  We just completed our 2008 Summer Conference, June 23-25, which featured Joe Miller, Randy Pagal, and Sharon Smith. Look here for information soon on our 2009 Summer Conference.

OCDA also sponsors multiple reading sessions at the OMEA conference each year.  For those events, OCDA provides approximately 1000 packets of choral music free of charge to OMEA participants.  Join us at the OMEA Conference this year, held in Columbus, January 15-17, which will feature Chanticleer as its headline performance group!

Additionally, OCDA Repertoire and Standards Chairs will be planning events throughout the year that are designed to provide continuing education and support for choral conductors in Ohio.

If you are not yet a member of OCDA, we invite you to join our organization and to share an array of meaningful choral experiences with us.  If you are already a member, invite a friend to join.  In any case, we hope that we will have the chance to see you soon at a choral concert or OCDA event!

Sincerely,
Gayle Walker
